Shiatsu Massage: Let Their Fingers Do the Walking

Everyone loves to have a good massage, especially after a long hard day at work or even at home with the kids. If you have not had the opportunity to enjoy a Shiatsu massage, you have no idea what you are missing out on. Shiatsu message is a massage that pinpoints areas and applies pressure to them in order to manipulate the muscle tissue.

In the muscle tissue manipulation the blood flow throughout the entire body is increased. The fingers of a Shiatsu massage therapist are one of a kind, especially when it comes to targeting the exact problem area. When you notice the fingers walking all over your body you can also expect to feel the therapist using his or her elbows and palms as well. During this massage you will feel so unbelievably relaxed. You will feel like a new person at the end of your massage.

Shiatsu massage comes from ancient Chinese time. The Chinese practiced Shiatsu massage therapies in their treatment of many conditions as well as in their medical philosophy. Many years after Shiatsu was practiced many other areas utilized it as well. Some of these other places were Southeast Asia, Japan and even Korea. In the 1970's Shiatsu massage became popular in the United States for treating a wide variety of ailments.

If you are scheduling an appointment for a Shiatsu massage you might be wondering what to expect. In general the massage can last from 30 minutes to an hour. During this time you will be lying down on a specially padded mat on the floor. The first thing that usually happens during a Shiatsu massage is a stretching technique. This stretching is done to open your skin to the manipulation technique that will be used during the massage. This will stimulate your body and prepare it for the massage. Doing this helps the massage to work by allowing your muscles to become lose and open for the procedure.

Your skin can also enjoy some benefits of a Shiatsu massage. The massage will provoke the blood flow throughout your body and in doing this the blood vessels become stimulated. You glands will also become stimulated by this process and in turn the skin will look healthier and smoother. It has even been said to reduce the risk of wrinkles when you age.

A large portion of the population suffer from migraine headaches. The cause of a migraine headache is the blood vessels in the brain are contracting at a very high rate. There are some symptoms that are commonly associated with migraines, such as nausea, visual impairments, numbness and increased sensitivity to sound and light. Some of the more popular reasons for an individual to suffer from migraines are caffeine, hunger, weather, foods that have nitrates in them and stress. Shiatsu massage can eliminate some of these symptoms by increasing the circulation of the blood through the body.

These are just a mere few examples of some of the many conditions and ailments that can be effectively treated through Shiatsu massage. Although, you do not have to wait until you are suffering from something before you make an appointment for a massage. Even if you are healthy and do not currently have any complaints, you will still benefit from a wonderful Shiatsu massage. Consider your appointment preventative measures to ensure your health in the future.
